We are seeking an experienced Head of Integrated Agro-Industrial & Mineral Value Chain, Processing, Sourcing & Bulk Export Operations to lead the development and management of an integrated sourcing, processing, logistics, and export operation in Uganda. The position will oversee the complete value chain from agricultural commodity and mineral sourcing through aggregation, processing, quality control, storage, logistics, regulatory compliance, and bulk export to international markets.
We are seeking an experienced Head of Integrated Agro-Industrial & Mineral Value Chain, Processing, Sourcing & Bulk Export Operations to lead the development and management of an integrated sourcing, processing, logistics, and export operation in Uganda.
The position will oversee the complete value chain from agricultural commodity and mineral sourcing through aggregation, processing, quality control, storage, logistics, regulatory compliance, and bulk export to international markets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing reliable local supply networks, coordinating processing and logistics operations, ensuring product quality and compliance, and developing efficient export channels for international buyers.
1. Agricultural Commodity Sourcing & Value Chain Management
Develop and manage sourcing networks involving farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, traders, processors, and other supply partners.
Identify and secure reliable supplies of agricultural commodities in Uganda.
Monitor production, seasonality, availability, volumes, pricing, and supply risks.
Coordinate collection, aggregation, transportation, storage, and delivery to processing facilities or export points.
Develop long-term relationships with strategic suppliers and producer organizations.
2. Mineral Sourcing & Supply Chain Development
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable sources of minerals and other commercially viable mineral products in Uganda.
Build relationships with licensed miners, mining companies, cooperatives, aggregators, processors, and authorized trading partners.
Verify the origin, quality, specifications, production capacity, and availability of mineral products.
Coordinate sampling, testing, inspection, valuation, aggregation, processing where applicable, storage, and transportation.
Ensure that all mineral sourcing and export activities comply with applicable Ugandan laws, licensing requirements, environmental requirements, traceability standards, and international trade regulations.
Develop commercially viable supply chains capable of supporting consistent export volumes.
3. Commodity & Mineral Processing
Coordinate processing, grading, cleaning, drying, sorting, refining, concentration, packaging, or other value-addition activities as applicable to each product.
Ensure processing operations meet international buyer specifications.
Optimize processing capacity, yields, quality, costs, and production efficiency.
Minimize product losses and maintain accurate production and inventory records.
4. Quality Control, Inspection & Traceability
Establish quality-control procedures across agricultural and mineral supply chains.
Coordinate sampling, laboratory testing, inspection, certification, and verification.
Ensure products meet contractual specifications and applicable export standards.
Maintain traceability from source through processing, storage, transportation, and shipment.
Work with independent inspection companies and laboratories where required.
5. Bulk Export & International Logistics
Lead bulk export operations from Uganda to international destinations.
Coordinate inland transportation, warehouses, processing facilities, containerization or bulk loading, customs clearance, ports, shipping, and documentation.
Manage relationships with freight forwarders, clearing agents, transport companies, inspection companies, shipping lines, and other logistics providers.
Optimize logistics costs, lead times, shipment schedules, and operational reliability.
Monitor shipments through loading, departure, and delivery.
6. International Buyer & Commercial Coordination
Coordinate with international buyers regarding product specifications, quantities, pricing, shipment schedules, documentation, and delivery requirements.
Translate buyer requirements into practical sourcing, processing, quality, and logistics plans.
Support commercial negotiations with accurate information on availability, costs, processing capacity, logistics, and delivery timelines.
Develop long-term international supply relationships.
7. Regulatory & Export Compliance
Ensure all sourcing, processing, transportation, and export activities comply with applicable Ugandan regulations.
Maintain appropriate permits, licenses, certificates, customs documentation, inspection records, and other required documentation.
Ensure mineral sourcing is conducted through legitimate and properly authorized channels.
Establish appropriate due-diligence procedures for suppliers and products.
8. Operations & Performance Management
Establish KPIs covering sourcing, processing, quality, inventory, logistics, export volumes, costs, and delivery performance.
Monitor operational margins, losses, lead times, and supply-chain efficiency.
Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective measures.
Recruit, coordinate, and manage local operational teams and external service providers.
The ideal candidate will have substantial practical experience in Uganda's agricultural, agro-processing, commodity trading, mining, mineral sourcing, logistics, or export sectors, preferably with experience covering several stages of the supply chain.
Experience with agricultural commodities such as coffee, grains, maize, soybeans, sesame, pulses, cassava, or other export commodities, together with experience in mineral sourcing and trading, would be highly advantageous.
Proven experience in agricultural commodity sourcing, agro-processing, mineral sourcing, commodity trading, or export operations.
Strong knowledge of Uganda's agricultural and/or mineral supply chains.
Established relationships with farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, processors, miners, mining companies, traders, transporters, and logistics providers.
Experience managing bulk commodity or mineral exports.
Understanding of quality control, inspection, traceability, documentation, and international trade requirements.
Strong knowledge of inland and international logistics.
Strong commercial negotiation and supplier-management skills.
Ability to evaluate suppliers, supply capacity, quality, costs, and operational risks.
Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and build operations from the ground up.
The primary objective of this position is to build and manage an integrated Uganda-based sourcing and export platform covering agricultural commodities and minerals, connecting reliable local suppliers and processing operations with international buyers.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a commercially sustainable source-to-process-to-export value chain, ensuring reliable supply, competitive costs, consistent quality, regulatory compliance, and secure international delivery.
The role combines local sourcing, value-chain development, processing, mineral procurement, quality management, logistics, and international bulk export operations.
